Aparaspara-sambhūtaṁ kim anyat kāma-haitukam [Bg. 16.8]. They say this jagat or this world is anīśvaraḥ. There is no God. “Who is God? I am God. Is there any God who exists?” They think of themselves as very great leaders and great politicians, and they say so about themselves. This is a fact. We also come across such people when we go out to preach. When there is a great congregation of people, a sādhu comes, and he speaks about God; many people come to listen, and they also invite great politicians or political leaders.
So, once I asked one gentleman, “Why have you invited this political leader here when you have invited us to know about God and the science of the soul and science of God? What do they know? Why have you invited such a person?”
“Swami jī, if a political person comes, many people will also come, and the assembly will be great. Otherwise, nobody will come, and very few people will come to know about your philosophy. They are not interested, for they are interested in political people as they will promise material gain to them. They will promise good roads, lights, electrification, water supply, all these things the leader may assure them, so they come.” I said all right. They are also given a seat with the sādhu, an equal seat, and a flower garland, then allowed to speak, and what does he speak? “Oh, we hear the sādhu say, ‘Lord, Lord, Supreme Lord, God, God,’ what is that? Where is that God? Has anybody seen him? I am a great leader, yet I have not seen, so how can others see? No, there is no God.” He speaks in this way. “The sādhu says there is a Lord, a Supreme Lord, Parameśvara Bhagavān, but have they seen him? I am such a great leader, I lead so many people, yet I have not seen any being who is such a great person. So how can the ordinary person see God? So, there is no God at all. They are only speaking theoretically, not practically.” He spoke in this manner, and such people are considered great.
So, in our turn, when our spiritual leaders or I stand up and speak, we tell him, “You are a man born blind, when a man blind from his birth hears that many people are speaking of the sun, ‘Oh now the dark night is gone, the sun has arisen, and now it is daylight, the day has begun, you get up, get up.’ The blind man is thinking, ‘What do these people say about the sun? What is that sun? Who is that sun? I cannot see the sun. I make my own days and nights, whereas these people say that the sun makes their days and nights.’ A person born blind thinks like that. So, is it a fact that there is no sun, and his thinking is correct? No, you are born blind and have no proper vision to see the sun; therefore, you think there is no sun.
Similarly, you leaders have no proper vision or understanding of God’s existence and the Lord’s presence everywhere. You are like a blind boy or a blind person; therefore, you say there is no God. Those endowed with the proper vision have seen God saying, “Yes, God is there. Why don’t you believe it? Why don’t you think, ‘I am blind and have no proper vision?’ Those who have the proper vision see. Why don’t you accept it?”
